APP PROTECTION ISN'T WORKING

Open Curbies and check the protection status on Home. Follow its setup or repair action, allow Screen Time access and select the apps or categories you want to protect. Then open a selected app to check that its shield appears.

When an unlock window ends, check that the app becomes shielded again. A setup preview is practice; it does not prove that a real app is protected. Native app gates and the Safari extension have separate setup and controls.

SET UP THE SAFARI EXTENSION

  1. On recent iOS versions, open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions. On iOS 17, open Settings → Safari → Extensions.
  2. Enable Curbies and allow it on the websites you want to protect. You can also manage access from Safari's page menu.
  3. In Curbies, open You → Setup Guide and check that Safari protection is on.
  4. Open a supported feed in Safari: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook or Reddit. Return to the setup guide to check whether the extension was observed.

Test scrolling and a useful task such as search or messaging. Website layouts and permissions vary; a successful check on one site does not verify all sites. Safari controls affect websites opened in Safari, not those services' native apps.

WHY IS A RULE CHANGE WAITING?

Protection can run with editable rules. If you seal the optional Pact, stricter changes apply immediately and looser changes wait. The presets use 6 hours for Casual, 24 hours for Normal and 72 hours for Hardcore; the Rules screen shows your selected cooling-off period.

When a request is ready, return to Rules and hold the confirmation control for 5 seconds. You have 24 hours to confirm before it expires. A replacement request of the same type starts a new wait.

TURN OFF PROTECTION OR USE EMERGENCY EXIT

Without a sealed Pact, you can turn off native app protection directly. With a Pact, the normal request uses your cooling-off period.

For the shorter route, open Rules → Emergency Exit, type the displayed phrase and request the exit. Wait 15 minutes, then return to Rules and hold to confirm. Confirmation turns native app protection off and unseals the Pact. Protection remains off until you enable it again.

Safari protection is separate. Its switch is in the setup guide and can be subject to a sealed Pact. You can also manage the extension's access in Safari settings.

CANCEL A TRIAL OR SUBSCRIPTION

Open iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Curbies, then choose the cancellation option. Review the end date shown by Apple. If you do not want a free or discounted trial to renew, Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before it ends. Apple's cancellation instructions explain the current steps.

Deleting the app or resetting progress does not cancel a subscription. Purchases and renewal are handled by Apple. For refunds, use Apple's Report a Problem service.

RESTORE A PURCHASE

Open Shop → Restore while using the Apple Account that made the purchase. An internet connection may be needed to refresh the App Store record. Progress sync through iCloud is separate from purchases.

SYNC PROGRESS

There's nothing to sign in to. Curbies saves stickers, game progress, protected-day and streak records, and completed lessons to your own iCloud automatically. App selections, protection rules, browsing activity and intentions stay on the device.

Use the same iCloud account on your devices and check the status in You. Apple manages delivery, so changes may take time to appear. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Curbies in Settings → your name → iCloud.

If iCloud is unavailable, progress stays on your phone. After a reset on another device or an iCloud account change, sync pauses. Choose Merge This Phone’s Progress to combine this phone's progress with the current iCloud, or Restore From iCloud Only to replace it with the iCloud copy when Apple delivers it. Unsynced progress on this phone is lost if you restore from iCloud only.

RESET ALL PROGRESS

Open You → Reset All Progress and review the confirmation. This turns off app and Safari protection, clears this phone's stickers, lessons, counters, rules, intentions and app selections, and queues deletion of the iCloud copy. Small deletion records remain so old progress can't return.

Keep the app installed and stay connected to iCloud while Apple delivers the erase. Other devices pause sync when they receive it. Removing the app alone does not erase the iCloud copy.

Resetting does not cancel a subscription. Use Apple's subscription management to manage renewal.
